CONTINUING A FAMILY TRADITION

Anthony (AJ) Quarrell has been diving for abalone off the coast at Port Campbell since he was 17 years old.
His father 'Red' Quarrell bought an original abalone access licence when they became available in the 1960s and worked until AJ took over in the early 2000s.

Still based in Port Campbell, and now with a young family of his own, AJ is realising his dream to supply the freshest and best wild abalone to those wanting a product the way nature intended.

DIRECT FROM THE DIVER
SUSTAINABLE FISHING

There are not many places in Victoria (if any) where you can buy live wild abalone direct from the diver. Most of the abalone caught in Victoria is exported to Asia in large quantities where it is considered to be a delicacy.

In today's fast-paced environment, divers are under increasing pressure to get their catch in a limited timeframe.  The best thing about processing our own fish is that it gives us time to dive at our own pace. There is no pressure to get larger weights so we only take what we describe as "the cream" off each reef, allowing time to explore new reefs and areas.
